In my opinion, the colour scheme is good because it fits in with everything else on the magazine cover, such as the writing and section with the price and dateline and because it is the current college colour scheme, so it would fit with any other documents there may be regarding the college. I think my choice of font works well on the front cover because it is bold and easy to read and also fits the theme of a college. I also think my photograph works well. I took the picture outside the main entrance to the college because the results from my questionnaire concluded that it would be the best place for the picture to be taken. The picture is a medium shot, taken outside with ambient lighting from the sun. I used photoshop to manipulate the student's t-shirt to incorporate the college logo. I think my photo works well because it is good quality and is in deep focus allowing both the student and college to be seen clearly.
However there are some changes that need to be made to my college magazine to make it a more successful product. I would change the contents page significantly. There needs to be a clear divide between regulars and special features in the magazine and it needs way more content. At the moment the magazine is very small with only 11 pages listed on the contents page. I would also add more pictures to the contents page to make it look more interesting and have a better visual appearance. I would also add more writing to the front page to show more detail about what is included in the magazine, and I would increase the size of "FREE!" so it is easier to read and so it may attract more readers. I think the picture on the front page cause also do with being larger.
I got my target audience to give me some feedback about what I should change with my magazine. They told me that I should change the layout of the contents page and include three or four smaller images to keep the contents page different from the front page. They also told me that I need to sort out the pages inside the magazine, for example I wrote "pages 6 - 7: '09 - '10 Term Dates", which wouldnt take up two pages. They did however say that they liked the scrapbook effect with the selotape over the pictures inside the magazine and that the name of the magazine works well.
